Powder Coated Garage Doors

garage door powder coated

Select Garage Doors have installed garage doors in thousands of homes across Lancashire.  Throughout our 20 years of experience, we have found powder coated steel doors to be the most economical, durable and secure option.

What is powder coating?

All of our steel garage doors come with a powder coated finish, and we do this ourselves, on-site.  The main difference between a powder coated finish and spray paint finish, is that the spray paint needs a solvent to keep it in liquid suspension.

In one of our two on-site powder coating booths, we will apply a dry powder coating to both the outside and inside of your new garage door.  Next, we bake your lovely new door in one of our two specially designed ovens.  This causes the powder to melt, and a skin to form, giving your beautiful garage door a smooth, hard and durable finish.

Select Garage Doors use a textured finish, which is known as a ripple, on all our garage doors, as we find it to be much more hard-wearing.

Why Do We Powder Coat Our Garage Doors?

There are several reasons why we powder coat all of our garage doors:

  • Firstly, powder coating is an ideal way to protect metal parts from corrosion, and this finish can withstand a good battering from the unpredictable British weather. As a result, your door will still be looking at its best for years to come.

  • In addition, we can powder coat your steel garage door in pretty much any RAL colour you can think of. (For those not in the know, RAL is a European colour matching system, which defines colours for paint, coatings and plastics.) You could match your garage door colour to the paintwork on the rest of your property.  Alternatively, if you fancy, you could make a bit of a statement with a contrasting colour. We can even spray your frame a different colour to the door itself.

  • Finally, powder coated garage doors are super easy to clean. Simply wash them down with a bit of washing up liquid and warm water.  When you’re finished, just dry it off with a soft cloth.  Any stubborn dirt marks can be removed with a non-abrasive cream cleaner.
