A tiny garage in a difficult to manoeuvre street has just sold for £360,000 - more than the average price of a home in England. The building, situated in the Royal Borough of Chelsea, boasts a meagre 146 square footage of space, and its awkward location means it’s not going to be the easiest to park in.
The garage went under the hammer with a guide price of £180,000, and despite garages being typically difficult to value it’s safe to assume it wasn’t expected to go for double that.
Property in Kensington and Chelsea already tops a list compiled by Halifax of Britain's most expensive places on a square metre basis, with an average price of just under £12,000 per square meter, almost 6 times the UK average of £2033.

This garage, however, blows that average out of the water, with a startling price per square meter of over £26,500, meaning per square meter this garage is twice the price of an average home in Chelsea and is a record for a single garage which will be used for it's intended purposes.
Here at Select Garage Doors, we can’t help but wonder two things;
A) What kind of car is going to be parked in this garage, bearing in mind the building costs about the same as a Rolls Royce Phantom (which probably wouldn’t fit anyway) or two Ferrari 488 supercars?
B) If the owner would like a new bespoke garage door ..?
We had to ask; in such an exclusive location, and with such a high price tag, you would expect only the best, and our made-to-measure magnelis steel garage doors, made to order in our own UK factory and available in custom sizes, lots of styles and colours, are certainly that!
